PAVER INSTALLATION
STEP 1:
Compact sub-base
The sub-base should be levelled and compacted (use a plate compactor) into layers of to more than 4". Wet the sub base (do not soak) while compacting in order to attain proper compaction. Level the sub-base to approximately 3" below the desired surface level (ideal for 60 mm paver) and make sure the sub-base conforms to the shape and elevation of the finished job.
STEP 2:
Install edge restraint
To prevent lateraL movement and displacement of the pavers, edge restraints must be installed on the compacted sub-base along all edges, which would otherwise be unrestrained. If possible, initially install edge restraints only one or two sides of the paving area in order to avoid unnecessary cutting. Kerbstones, bricks, iron angles, concrete barrier, etc. can be used as restraints.
STEP 3:
spread bedding sand
Begin spreading in a 1"-1.5" layer of large grained sand above the well-compacted sub-base. Lay long wooden strips as guides using the help of the guide strings in order toi set the right elevation ands height. Pack sand around these wooden guides to hold them in place. Fill the enclosed area with sand and with the help of another wooden/metallic strip (8-10" length) start leveling the enclosed area to spread a uniform thickness of the sand. Do not disturb the levelled sand by walking/placing anything on it.
STEP 4:
LAY PAVERS
After levelling the sand over the sub-base, begin laying your PAVE ESPANIA pavers using the areas straightest wedge as your starting point.

CAUTION: Do not step on the levelled sand base, use pavers for body support as they are laid.
STEP 5:
cut to fit
There will be a few voids in the course of laying the pavers which need to be accounted for by cutting the provided pavers into the right size and dimensions in order to fill the gaps.
STEP 6:
spread dry sand
Spread the sand (medium to fine grain) over all the pavers in order to fill all the spaces between the laid pavers. Keep repeating the process until all joints between the pavers are filled.
STEP 7:
COMPACT
After spreading the sand into the gaps, sweep the surface clean and tamp the pavers to a uniform level with the help of a plate compactor. Run compactor in a parallel direction across the pavers.
